How to find your astrocartography lines for a career that you love

If you feel like you’re not able to achieve your full professional potential in your current geographical location, then finding the right astrocartography lines on your personal world map that can transform your professional life is the way forward.

In this blog post, I’ll explain what astrocartography lines are and how to identify the right ones for your career success.

I’ll also share my personal experience of relocating for career fulfilment.

What is astrocartography?

Astrocartography is a specialized area of astrology that maps out the planetary influences in different locations around the world based on your birth chart.

If you’re unfamiliar with astrology, here’s a simple way to think about it: just as astrology can give you insights into your personality, relationships, and life path, astrocartography extends this concept by showing how different places might affect you in unique ways.

Your birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at the exact time and place of your birth. This chart is divided into different areas that correspond to various aspects of life, such as career, love, and home.

Astrocartography projects this chart onto a world map, showing where each planet’s influence is most potent - these are called astrocartography lines or planetary lines.

By understanding these planetary lines, you can gain insights into how different places impact your life and well-being.

What do the astrocartography lines mean on your world map?

When you look at your astrocartography map, you’ll see several lines crisscrossing the globe (you can generate your world map for free here).

Each line represents the influence of a particular planet, and where these lines fall in your birth chart can give you insights into how different locations might affect different parts of your life.

Here’s an example of an astrocartography map:

My experience moving to a favorable astrocartography line for career fulfilment

Picking the location with the right energy can be the difference between feeling dissatisfied in your work life and:

  • finding the right work opportunities much faster

  • feeling consistently excited by your work

  • being respected and appreciated for your talents

  • earning money through work that feels meaningful

Take it from my personal experience:

Four years ago, I moved to live near my Mars MC line (Mars - drive, passion, entrepreneurship; MC/Midheaven - your public aspirations; activities that make you happy - which are also conjunct in my birth chart natally).

While you can find many fearmongering stories about living near or on a Mars astrocartography line, the shadow of side of Mars’ energy (anger, aggression, violence) tends to manifest when we don’t have a healthy relationship with our anger.

That is when we start to attract situations and events that reflect our own surpressed anger back at us.

In the mature expression of Mars, this energy helps us achieve our goals autonomously, become more entrepreneurial and ready to act as a leader as well as teaches us how to navigate competitive or even hostile environments.

For me, living near Mars’ energy has been invigorating rather than destructive.

Within two weeks of landing in Estonia, it became surprisingly easy for me to find relevant work, and it has continued to be this way while I’ve lived here. I haven’t had to pull out my resume even once.

A welcome respite after 10 years of struggle town in Denmark.

However, since I have a number of challenging aspects to my natal Mars from my 6th house of workplace and colleagues, and Mars embodies a pretty independent and hot-headed energy, my workplace experiences have forced me to question my professional path, even as I've finally been able to enjoy open doors otherwise.

Ultimately, these experiences have guided me to become an entrepreneur (Mars/Aries is the quintessential entrepreneur) which allows me to do work on my own terms.

Entrepreneurship was something I had always dreamt about, but living near Mars’ energy gave me the courage to finally go for it, which in turn led me to much greater fulfilment and success than I could ever hope for.

In other words, it’s crucial to interpret your astrocartography map in connection with your natal chart. The interaction between the planetary lines on your map and your birth chart is what truly reveals the nuances of how different locations affect your work life.

How to find your own astrocartography lines for a career that you love

To unlock this insight from your own astrocartography map, follow these steps:

  1. identify the planetary ruler of your 10th house in your natal chart (e.g. Mars for Aries, Venus for Taurus etc. / I use the whole sign house system).

  2. add MC to the ruler’s name and look for this planetary line on your map (e.g. Mars MC, Venus MC) - Do you feel drawn to any of these locations?

  3. then pull up your relocated chart for one of the suggested locations to see which planets (if any) move to your 10th, 6th or 2nd house - these are the key houses that will colour your professional experience in that location (to generate your relocated chart, change the timezone and the location to match the new location). - How would you experience your professional life differently in that location?
