North Node in your chart - sign & house meanings

In this blog post, I share how to locate your North Node, the meaning of your North Node through signs and house placement, and I invite you to reflect on how it manifests in your life.

North Node meaning in your natal chart

In astrological terms, the North Node (also known as Rahu) is linked to the qualities and traits that you are encouraged to develop in this lifetime for your personal and spiritual growth.

While your South Node represents traits and behaviors that may be familiar and comfortable to you, your soul wants and needs to move beyond your South Node and towards your North Node.

The lesson of your North Node is to learn to embody the traits of your North Node sign in particular.

How to find the North Node in your natal chart

How to find your North Node sign and house placement is easy when you pull up your chart at astro.com (it’s free!).

But before you generate your chart, make sure to select the Whole Sign House system to ease your interpretation.

In the quick video below, I show you how to locate both your South and North Node in your chart by going through the following steps on astro.com:

How to interpret your North Node

Astrology's richness lies in its complexity, and the North Node is no exception. The zodiac sign in which the North Node resides offers insights into the traits you need to develop in this lifetime.

However, these are traits that you’re likely to feel a strong dislike towards (at first) when you learn what your North Node sign is, and there’s a reason for that.

You’re not likely to connect with your North Node sign, your soul’s mission, at first, because it is literally foreign territory for you.

If these traists were already familiar to you, there wouldn’t be any growth.

So when you learn what your North Node sign is in, I encourage you to read up on that sign as much as you can and continue to reflect on it as you navigate different situations in your life.

To interpret your North Node placement, follow these steps:

  • first, seek to understand the nature of the sign

  • then, identify the house where your North Node is located

  • finally, reflect on how the themes of your North Node sign have manifested for you in the sphere of life where your North Node is located
